Franco Fabi EXPOSED

Nothing can stop the ambition that is Franco Fabi. The Montreal deck wizard has managed to carve out an impressive position within the national and international clubbing community, combining savvy, drive and musical prowess.

This Montreal resident completed his first full-length studio album, Reflection Session, in 2006 in collaboration with the heavy hitting vocal talents of Lisa Pure and Robert Owens and, his first mixed CD compilation was released in January 2007.

Franco got his start in the ultra competitive Montreal scene and soon his Friday night residency at the notorious Ilume club earned him a faithful following. This was the beginning of his rise to global fame.

In 2006, it was Franco’s magical set at the annual event ‘Celebration’ that truly jump started his career. It will be a long time before his 4 hour set, witnessed by 7000 strong, will be forgotten.

Fabi’s infectious blend of top-shelf, electro-laced, progressive, throbbing club vibes was too strong to be limited to Montreal alone and, as a result, Franco was invited to share the booth with a host of DJ elite. Icons such as Roger Sanchez, Tiesto, Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Deep Dish (2006 Canadian Tour), Paul Oakenfold and Chus & Ceballos are some of the many legends he has played alongside.

Having already graced the decks in France, Spain, Lebanon (B018), Italy, Las Vegas (Ice), Miami (Mansion & Global Gathering), L.A. (Avalon & Spundae) to tremendous acclaim, it is no mystery how he managed to secure residencies in Poland (Varsovie), Morocco (Marrakech), Tunisia, and London England in clubs like the world famous Pacha.

With his sights set on converting you, look to the decks near you to give in to Franco’s infectious sounds, and like the rest…you will not be disappointed.

Andy Reid EXPOSED

The buzz over Toronto’s internationally renowned dance scene, to some extent, falls on the shoulders and turntables of DJ and music magazine editor Andy ‘Phantasm’ Reid.

Since its humble beginnings in 1996, Andy has been behind the increasingly popular and prominent NocturnalMagazine.net, an online dance music publication that has garnered worldwide recognition and praise from fans and industry heavyweights alike.

As a DJ, Andy is no stranger to the decks. Since beginning his DJ career in 1992, he has risen to the ranks of Toronto’s elite house selectors… having played in every major venue in the city, and for every major promoter.

Early in 2007, Andy ventured into the studio, and after a long time coming begun producing his own music. With a remix of Hatiras’ “Shady Luv” for Blow Media, and two forthcoming remixes and one original for rising star Adam K’s HotBox Digital imprint, it is only a matter of time before Andy’s brand of proper house music is dominating dancefloors worldwide.

Whether it be grooving to his unique style of funky grooves, sexy vocals, and pumping beats that are guaranteed to rock the dancefloor, or reading up on the latest tracks or industry up-and-comers and superstars on Nocturnal… if your passion is house music then Andy Reid is your man…

HECTOR ROMERO - EVENT.info

Hector Romero EXPOSED

When I asked him the perennial question journalists ask DJ’s about their style, Hector Romero replied: “I play the best of all genres of dance music.” Quite the dibs, but Hector’s got the credentials to back it up.

2006 begins with Hector Romero’s first international mix CD release, “Pacha Winter Sessions”. The double CD hits the streets Jan ’06 in many countries around the world. It includes Hector Romero on Disc one and Spain’s Juan Diaz on Disc two. “When I was originally asked by Danny Whittle at Pacha Ibiza to mix Disc one of the Pacha Winter album I felt flattered and honored.” An honor that is helping to solidify, Romero’s international persona, and opening doors into new countries like Morocco and Switzerland with a full world tour in the stars for this year.

In 2000, Romero became the fourth wheel to the Def Mix triumvirate; alluding to the completion of a set for one of the most acclaimed DJ rosters in existence. Being the youngest of the crew, Hector brings a fresh take on house music to the company. Romero elaborates: “They respect me for my energy and for being different from everyone else. I bring a different flavor to the company.

Since his beginnings as thirteen-year-old DJ wunderkind “Baby Hec” Romero back in 1983, a growing reputation landed him at La Mirage, the hottest uptown Latin club at the time. As the New York City house music renaissance ensued, Hector found himself at the helm of legendary dance floors Save the Robots, The Red Zone (where he met David Morales), Palladium and Roxy. Hector admits “I have not stopped DJ’ing once in my career.”

Hector has worked as an employee for Def Mix for ten years. He has proven to be quite the workhorse, keeping his finger quick on the pulse of the company’s daily business operations. Known for their house clout, Def Mix broadened their horizons with SAW Recordings, the brainchild co-run by owner Satoshi Tomiie and partner Label Manager Hector Romero.

Known first and foremost for an innovative approach to the house sound, SAW’s output have all the crucial elements to them. Hector explains: “Everything’s got to be funky with your baseline, good vocals, catchy hooks, very important stuff that’s going to stand the test of time.” The highly touted compilation, Undulation 1 (mixed by Satoshi & Hector) saw a highly touted 2003-4 world tour.

As a crucial member of the Def Mix camp, Hector’s plan for the future is to grow as an executive for the SAW label. “Since I don’t remix or produce, being a business person Monday through Friday is my love and passion,” he expounds. Romero distinguishes the weekend as a time to take his A&R duties abroad: “I take everything we’ve signed, the music that I’ve been sent, on the road and have a good time. Just stepping it up another level and continuing to influence people.”

Whether he’s rocking it out at Pacha, Ibiza or in Greece, UK, France, Spain, Italy, USA or Canada, Hector works hard at his craft, making sure clubbers have a good time. What sets Romero apart from the rest, his ability to reach out to the masses, makes him a favorite with promoters and clubbers alike: “[Promoters] love it when people go to the gigs and smile, and have a good time with their customers. I love it. It’s work, but it’s also good fun.”

By pushing the boundaries of dance music, Hector is quickly becoming the face of the future: “Dance music is huge in Europe because that’s their culture. They grew up on dance music. But hip-hop and R&B is something they learned from us. So here in America, I’ll be fighting for it and I hope for it to grow and get bigger.”

Free Event w/ Jeff Button

Starting out as a promoter in the Toronto club scene, Jeff Button decided it was time to change his role in early 2006. Jeff took his great passion for deep and funky progressive house to the next level, and became a DJ.

Jeff has worked diligently on developing a unique sound that is influenced by the sounds of Toronto’s top talents, Sean Miller, Luke Fair, and Brad Copeland. He realized early on that his most enjoyment came from the challenge of warming up a room, the identical means the aforementioned three made their mark.

In a less than two years Jeff has accumulated quite an impressive list of accomplishments. He opened the legendary Sonic closing party and earned a spot on the resident roster for Sunset Sessions at The Next Level, where he played alongside John Creamer, Sean Miller and Brad Copeland.

Jeff currently holds a residency for EXPOSED at The Mod Club Theatre where he’s set the stage for international guests including Neil Quigley, Ricky Ryan and the Holosound duo from NYC, Alex Fish and Noah Becker. These nights went off so well that they further emphasized Jeff as being the best opening DJ in the city.
